App Store screenshot sizes 2026: every required size
Every App Store screenshot size for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Watch, TV and Vision Pro, which are required, and how to export framed screenshots at exact sizes.
App Store screenshots have exact pixel requirements per display size, a small set of them are mandatory, and Apple scales the rest for you if you skip them. This page is the current list, from Apple's App Store Connect specification, followed by the practical part: producing framed, headline-bearing screenshots at exactly those sizes from a 3D device scene in OpenMock.
Required vs optional, at a glance
You must provide:
- iPhone 6.9-inch — 1320 × 2868 (portrait) or 2868 × 1320. Apple scales these for every smaller iPhone if you provide nothing else.
- iPad 13-inch — 2064 × 2752 or 2752 × 2064, if your app runs on iPad.
- Mac — one of four 16:10 sizes, if you ship a Mac app.
- Apple Watch — the size for your target model, if you ship a watch app.
- Apple TV / Vision Pro — 1920 × 1080 or 3840 × 2160, for those platforms.
Everything else is optional, for when you want per-size control.

Note the 6.3-inch slot: the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro have 1206 × 2622 displays, but Apple's screenshot size for that class is 1179 × 2556. Sizes are per slot, not per device.

Framed marketing screenshots at exact sizes
Store screenshots do not have to be raw captures — Apple allows composed marketing images with device frames and text, and most top apps use them. The trick is producing them at the exact pixel sizes above without a designer's afternoon per size.
In OpenMock:
- Pick the device class — iPhone 17 Pro Max for the 6.9-inch set, iPad Pro for 13-inch, MacBook Pro for Mac.
- Set the canvas to the App Store · iPhone, App Store · iPad or App Store · Mac preset so you compose in the store's shape.
- Drop the screenshot onto the device and frame it straight-on or with a slight tilt; keep the UI legible — this is the one place where a dramatic angle hurts.
- Add the headline as a text shot above the device, and a brand-colour gradient background. Turn off grain and heavy vignette.
- Export image with the size set to Custom and Apple's exact pixels: 1320 × 2868 for the 6.9-inch slot, 2064 × 2752 for iPad. (OpenMock's App Store · iPhone preset is 1290 × 2796, the earlier 6.7-inch size; typing 1320 × 2868 matches the current required slot exactly.) The App Store · Mac preset is already 2880 × 1800.
- Choose JPEG, or PNG without transparency. Apple rejects alpha channels.
- Repeat per screenshot — change the media and headline, keep the scene. Image exports are free and unwatermarked, so a ten-screenshot set costs nothing.
Save the project (Pro) and you can regenerate the whole set after a UI change in minutes.
Design notes that lift conversion
- The first two screenshots carry the decision. Put your strongest claim and your most recognisable screen there.
- One idea per screenshot, in six words or fewer, in type large enough to read on a 6.1-inch phone.
- Keep the device consistent across the set — same model, same angle, same background family.
- Portrait for phone, landscape for Mac and often for iPad. Mixing orientations within a set looks broken in the store carousel.
- Localize the headline, not the UI, unless your UI is localized too.
FAQ
What is the required iPhone screenshot size for the App Store in 2026?
1320 × 2868 (portrait) or 2868 × 1320 (landscape), the 6.9-inch display class. Apple scales this set for smaller iPhones if you provide no others.
Do I still need 6.5-inch (1284 × 2778) screenshots?
Only if you do not provide the 6.9-inch set. If both are missing, the upload is incomplete for iPhone.
Can App Store screenshots include device frames and text?
Yes. Apple permits composed marketing screenshots with device frames, backgrounds and headlines, as long as they represent the app accurately. Transparency is not allowed in the file.
What size are Mac App Store screenshots?
Any of 1280 × 800, 1440 × 900, 2560 × 1600 or 2880 × 1800 — all 16:10. OpenMock's App Store · Mac preset exports 2880 × 1800 directly.
What size are Apple Watch screenshots?
Native to the target model: 422 × 514 for Ultra 3, 410 × 502 for Ultra 2, 396 × 484 for Series 11/10, 368 × 448 for Series 9 back to Series 4 and SE. Use one size across all localizations.
